Step 1
Remove the existing shower head with pliers or a wrench by turning counter-clockwise to remove the head from the shower head fixture protruding overhead from the wall of the shower.
Step 2
Wipe off the threaded end of the pipe with an old towel to remove rust and dirt, and to dry the threads.
Step 3
Wrap three to four revolutions of Teflon plumbing tape around the threads on the pipe end. The tape helps seal the new shower head to the pipe to prevent water leaks.
Step 4
Attach the pipe-mount end of the hand-held shower head to the pipe by turning the threaded coupling clockwise onto the pipe threads.
Step 5
Tighten the coupling to the pipe with a half-turn of the pliers or wrench. Do not overtighten.
Step 6
Install the clip for holding the shower head to the pipe by snapping the C-clamp onto the pipe. Clip the hand-held shower head into the other side of the C-clamp for use as a regular shower, and detach it for spraying directly on hard-to-reach areas of the body while showering.
